Create HTML Template

Use this page to create an HTML Page Skin template or an HTML Content Layout template. Write your own HTML using the wizard or copy from another source, including code you have created using a third-party HTML editor.

Template Properties

Field Description
Template Type

Select the type of HTML Template to create. Choose from:

  • HTML Page Skin--Select this type to create a template you can wrap around the body of a page. The body contains Oracle Portal content, such as items, portlets, regions, and tabs. The skin can contain anything any Web page can handle, including images, links, JavaScript, and the like.
  • HTML Content Layout--Select this type to create HTML formatting for region content, including items and portlets.

Template Name

Enter a name for your HTML Template.

Notes:

  • The name must be unique within its page group.
  • Use up to 50 bytes. This equates to 50 ASCII characters, but fewer multibyte characters.
  • The name is not case sensitive, and it will be automatically converted to all uppercase.
  • Multibyte characters are allowed.
  • Use any character, except:

    , & # % \ / : * ? < > | "

Template Definition

Field Description
... tags as substitution variables ... Click this link to view a list of substitution tags you can use to add portal content to your HTML Template. This includes such things as Edit links, Help links, and so on. The tag lists update automatically from the database; this means that tags that do not display on the list are not allowed for this particular template.
Template Definition Enter the code that defines the HTML Template.

  1. Log in to Oracle Portal.
  2. Click the Build tab to bring it forward.
  3. Go to the Page Groups Portlet.
  4. From the Work In drop-down list, select a page group to own the HTML Template.
  5. Click the Create link next HTML Templates under the Layout & Appearance section.
